Job Purpose

Responsible for growing/optimizing on new and existing transaction banking capabilities to support both its domestic (Corporate Banking Department) and cross border businesses (International Business Department). The domestic business is focused on serving middle-market corporates, while the International Business is building out its Sub-Saharan African financial institutions capabilities. The role holder will report jointly to the Head of International Business and the Head of Corporate.  

Key role requirements
  • Strategy: Develop an enterprise wide transaction banking strategy to support the growth of the International Business and domestic Corporate customer groups.
  • Proposition: Delivery of a comprehensive suite of payments and cash management, trade finance and foreign exchange solutions through active engagement with the Transformation and IT teams to ensure that product solution requirements are factored into and delivered with planned systems development/rollout.
  • Execution: Build and lead a transaction banking team focused on client development and solution execution.
  Key responsibilities
  • Strategy development and execution
  • Product and systems development – ensure that the Bank builds and maintains a compelling proposition
  • External relationships – responsible for new business growth (revenue, pipeline and balance sheet) and client servicing solutions to build long term relationships
  • Internal relationships – collegiate and supportive approach to cross departmental co-operation
  • Risk management – strong compliance and regulatory focus
  • People development – lead and develop an excellent transaction banking team
  • Governance – represent Transaction Banking at local governance committees and forums and act as a champion for the department to ensure that key objectives are prioritised appropriately.
  Qualifications & Experience 
  • Min Degree in Banking/ Finance/ Accounting or any related field;
  • Strong transaction banking background (10+ years) with excellent product and systems knowledge.
  • Experience working in global business environment (knowledge of African market will be an advantage)
  • Deep understanding of the workings of corporate banking clients, in particular but not limited to financial institutions.
  • Proven track record of winning new clients and providing excellent client
  • Keep up-to-date with financial and industry developments;
  • Strong knowledge of Central Bank’s guidelines and other relevant local legislations;
  • Strong marketing and sales skills;
  • Strong analytical and judgmental skills;
  • Ability to quickly pick up risk of Money Laundering;
  • Ability to take decision and be solution driven;
  • Strong understanding of various financial market.
  • Ability to lead, coach and motivate a team;
  • Good communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to drive business and deliver strong results.
  • Very good command of Microsoft tools.
