Our Data & Analytics Team [DnA] is seeking to recruit a Head of Data.

Job Purpose:

The Head of Data will oversee the DnA function with the Head of Analytics. The DnA Team is responsible for overseeing all data related activities in the Bank such as Data Governance, Data Management, Automation of Reporting, Business Insights and Data Analytics. The DnA Team will enable Management to make enhanced strategic decisions derived from data analytics delivering value adding business insights. The Team will ensure Bank wide compliance to all relevant data regulatory requirements through policy and process creation / amendment.
The Head of Data will own and drive the change in data systems, processes and organisational culture necessary to place the data strategy at the heart of the overarching business strategy and transformational change agenda.  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the process of reviewing and developing the organisations data to identify the systems, processes and skills required to achieve DnA long-term objectives.
  • Develop a comprehensive, organisation-wide data strategy for Bank One and support the inclusion of relevant data components in other organisational strategies where appropriate.
  • Oversee DnA projects that are already underway and identify opportunities to maximise current investment and opportunities within the future data architecture. Where appropriate propose the adoption of new technologies and approaches and provide business cases for pursuing their implementation.
  • Be the expert advisor to the Management Team on all issues relating to the Bank’s data.
  • Work across the Bank to build relationships that motivate and enthuse team members on why data is relevant to them and how it can be incorporated into day-to-day practices including identifying training and communication needs to ensure consistency in data management into the future.
  • Review and manage the resources (Internal and External) and budget requirements to achieve the data strategy and vision.
  • Ensure that all data management systems are audited for data quality, completion, and consent in line with the requirements set out in the data strategy and make recommendations accordingly.
  • Work with the Business Heads to embed appropriate data approaches within their work and ensure system and knowledge management.
  • Review and lead on the Bank’s procedures relating to data risk management, including working with the wider legal/governance teams on the impact of data legislation. Ensure that the Bank’s data infrastructure and processes are always in line with data protection and privacy legislation, as well as best practice.
  • Ensure that the Bank has its finger on the pulse with developments and trends in data tools and methodologies.
  • Develop the DnA Team, directly manage 2 team members (currently) and motivate, lead and support the Data Champions across the Bank.
 

Knowledge, Expertise and Experience

Essential
  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field; graduate degree in Data Science or another quantitative field
  • Minimum 7 years banking and management experience.
  • Minimum 5 years management experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of data related experience within the financial industry.
  • Experience with data regulatory requirements (i.e. GDPR, DPA).
  • Have first-hand experience of data architecture and managing a business-critical data migration.
  • Have a track record of challenging the norm and be comfortable influencing Senior Management as well as other team members and stakeholders.
  • Have a track record of scoping, resourcing, and delivering projects with an excellent understanding of a variety of project management approaches, including Agile, and when it’s appropriate to use each one.
