The Data Scientist will help the Bank to discover the information hidden in vast amounts of data, and help to make smarter decisions to deliver even better products. The primary focus will be on applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, and building high-quality prediction systems integrated with our products. He/she will also be responsible for managing the data related infrastructure and toolsets responsible for enabling the Data and Insights function (i.e. ETL layer & Data Lake/repository). The role holder will report to the Head of Data of the DnA Team.

Key Responsibilities

The Data Scientist provides data analysis and model building in collaboration with and in support of the Head of Data and data champions in the bank. Will support the bank strategy by analysing vast amounts of raw data to find patterns and help to build models that will help improve profitability, our customers’ experience, improve processes, and mitigate risks.

The below skillset is critical for success within the role:
  • Identifying valuable data sources and automating collection processes.
  • Extending the company’s data with third party sources of information when needed.
  • Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of the structure and unstructured data used for analysis.
  • Managing the data and analytics infrastructure (DB, ETL layer, Reporting tools).
  • Analysing large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns and provide the business with necessary insights.
  • Using these insights to influence how an organisation approaches business challenges.
  • Building predictive models and machine-learning algorithms.
  • Combining models through ensemble modelling.
  • Presenting information using data visualization techniques.
  • Proposing solutions and strategies to business challenges.
  • Making recommendations to adapt existing business strategies.
  • Collaborating with the rest of the DnA team, IT, and product development teams to achieve your goals and the DnA teams objectives.
  Qualification & Experience
  • At least BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or other quantitative related fields.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst.
  • Deep knowledge and experience working with the Microsoft data related stack (Azure Data Lake, ADFS, etc.).
  • Experience in data services on a cloud platform like Azure, AWS or Google cloud.
  • Experience in data mining.
  • Experience with mySQL and NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase.
  • Understanding of machine learning and operations research.
  • Knowledge of R, SQL and Python; familiarity with Scala, Java or C++ is an asset.
  • Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau) and data frameworks (e.g. Hadoop).
  • Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig.
  • Analytical mind and business acumen.
  • Strong math skills (e.g. statistics, algebra).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (Ability to communicate findings to all levels within the bank).
  • Proven experience in working with key stakeholders within the business.
