Given the prominent role that the Trade Finance department is meant to play in enabling Bank One to advance its goals through various initiatives embarked on in various countries, the department is looking for a dynamic Trade Finance Supervisor.

 

Job Purpose:

 

Verify that all operations are processed as per set standards according to guidelines, procedures, and security measures for the smooth running of the department.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

    • Cost Control: Monitor efficient use of resources for optimum cost maximisation.
    • Ensure all income is booked and avoid any leakage.
    • Participate in the formulation, communication, and implementation of individual and department objectives to focus on initiatives, facilitate monitoring and ensure cascading of objectives.
    • Verification of Inward and Outward Remittances
    • Ensure that all bookings (TR/TS Sheet) requests are done correctly and submitted to Treasury within cut-off time
    • Monitor, Reconcile and Approve – All incoming and outgoing SWIFT messages so that all messages are processed accordingly as per set standards and within set deadlines and take appropriate actions for undelivered/rejected messages.
    • Proper monitoring of Standing Orders.
    • Close monitoring of all queries and regular follow-ups on transactions.
    • Update documentation pertaining to changes in systems, procedures, products, and services so that all transactions are accurately processed.
    • Verify that all documents are duly filed and archived on time and that daily backup is done according to standards so that data are readily available upon request.
    • Carry out investigations to identify the root cause of errors and take corrective measures for any discrepancy for effective processing of transactions and avoid re-occurrence.
    • Verify and approve transactions in the Core Banking System as per escalation process, to ensure genuineness and exactness of transactions and Codes to avoid financial and reputational risk.
    • Process Reconciliation of Nostro.
    • Ensure all tasks assigned have been processed and pending tasks are reported to the Line Managers.
    • Regulatory reporting.
    • Provide advice and guidance to internal and external customers and to always ensure efficient customer service.
    • Monitor and attend to queries received from Customers, Lines of Business and Banks to ensure they are being attended to within set frame.
    • Abide to AML/CFT and Sanction policies.
    • Keep abreast of changes in systems, procedures, products and services and enforce continuous knowledge transfer and sharing so as to keep team members up to date, enhance efficiency and improve service levels.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

    • At least a Diploma Holder or any other acceptable qualification to the Bank.
    • A degree will be a definite advantage.
    • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a banking or financial industry.

 

Technical & Functional Skills:

 

    • Demonstrate good proficiency and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
    • Good organizational skills, diligence, and follow through with the ability to multi-task.
    • General knowledge of end-to-end Trade Finance Activities.
    • Sound knowledge of the products being processed.
    • Good awareness of AML/CFT and Sanction policies.
    • Strong knowledge on Swift Standards MT1xx, MT2xx, MT9xx, MT7xx.
    • Sound knowledge on Swift GPI – Tracker and Payment Confirmation.
    • Fully conversant with AML/CFT and Sanctions Policies.
    • Good written and spoken skills in English and French.
    • Sound knowledge of UCP/URDG/ISBP/ISP98/URR and URC
