Our Data & Analytics Department is looking for a Data Governance Manager & Data Protection Officer.

  Job Summary:

The data governance manager is a role within the Data & Analytics team that is responsible for the organization’s end-to-end data needs. The Data governance manager is key to ensuring data governance and data management is achieved throughout the bank, laying the foundation for quality data to be provided to key stakeholders for regulatory and business reporting and insights.

The data governance manager will work closely with the rest of the Data & Analytics team, compliance and the legal team, bringing together a single data management framework that supports the operations and governance aspects of the organization. The data governance manager will also be appointed as the Data Protection Officer for the organization and be accountable for all matters relating to a Data Protection Officer.


Key responsibilities:

  • To establish and embed formal Data Governance processes within our existing and future strategic projects.
  • To identify areas of opportunity with regards to data quality, and lead initiatives to resolve long-standing quality issues.
  • Provide expert consultative guidance in areas such as (but not limited to) data migration, document management and data quality.
  • To help build a robust data governance framework to drive a demonstrable improvement in data quality across all in-scope data.
  • Ensure that the organization processes the personal data of its staff, customers, providers or any other individuals in compliance with the applicable data protection rules.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to the organization about the interpretation or application of the data protection rules.
  • Handle queries or complaints on request by the institution, the controller, other person(s), or on her own initiative.
  • Ensure data protection compliance within her institution and help the latter to be accountable in this respect.
  • Maintain the register of processing operations within the institution.
  • Own the approach to establishing formal Data Governance processes across in-scope projects.
  • Drive results on high profile strategic projects that require support in areas such as data migration, document/ contract management and data quality.
  • Manage and embed Data Quality projects/ initiatives that will deliver tangible data quality improvement through root cause analysis, data cleansing etc.
  • Support the definition of a governance framework and chair or administrate appropriate forums.
  • Develop education tools and documentation to support our stakeholders.
  • Support the delivery of the Data Management communications plan to help establish a cultural change in how data is perceived and managed at the organization.
  • Work collaboratively with all employees, shareholders and the supplier eco system to establish and drive best Data Quality practice.
 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Management, IT or any related fields.
  • At least 8-10 years’ working experience in similar field.
  • Experience leading or playing a significant role in an ambitious and successful data team.
  • A good understanding of relevant statutory frameworks applying to data governance such as the (e.g. Data Protection Act, GDPR).
  • Experience in managing Data Protection Issues and Data Breaches.
  • Specialist knowledge of data governance principles and practices.
  • Experience in delivering data quality initiatives that have provided tangible efficiencies or business value.
  • Varied and detailed knowledge of one or more Data Management areas such as Data Quality, Data Migration, Document Management, Metadata Management etc.
  • Understanding of Master Data Management technology landscape, processes and design principles.
  • Operational familiarity in the use of meta-data management, data quality, and data stewardship tools and platforms.
  • Experience in the use of data catalogues and data quality technologies.
  • Hands-on operational management and change management.
  • Proven record of accomplishment in operating large data governance programs. Knowledge of Cloud based big data frameworks such as data lake, relational, Graph and other no-SQL databases
  • Experience in managing enterprise data assets in a large, complex organization.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and to derive workable actions.
  • Ability to constructively challenge requirements and current state to increase overall value to the organization.
  • Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity and rapid change.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (Ability to communicate findings to all levels within the bank).
  • Critical thinker with ability to solve problems.
  • Team Player.
