Vacancy: RCSA Manager – Operational Risk

Job Purpose:

The role holder is responsible for managing the Operational Risk engagements under the direction of the Head of Operational Risk & Fraud Investigation while assisting in the embedment of the new strategy and the Operational risk framework

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Operational Risk and Fraud Investigation to embed a coherent risk and control framework across the business
  • Drive the Risk and Control Self-Assessment programme while ensuring adherence to the RCSA guiding document and testing methodology
  • Enable risk based workshops to understand business processes and identify key risks and controls which will form the basis of the RCSA documents
  • Undertake risk assessments from a design effectiveness adequacy and operating effectiveness testing perspective
  • Conduct integrity checks on documentation pertaining to the risk and control documents including testing strategies and results to ascertain that these are maintained to the highest standard at all times
  • Present reports to Business owners and ensure understanding and commitment to the reports and action plans
  • Responsible for ensuring effective tracking and closure process with all issues logged, tracked and closed in a timely manner
  • Build and embed the risk and control universe while ensuring standardised adoption across all lines of defence
  • Promote a culture of risk awareness and control across the Business while continuously educating and supporting the business through guidance, advice, training and awareness
  • Train and educate business champions for successful taking over and effective execution of the RCSA testing cycles
  • Always demonstrate and maintain a high level of professionalism in all interactions with the business and colleagues both in terms of verbal and written communication
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders and other assurance teams
  • Prepare consistent and accurate RCSA progress reports while highlighting the overall effectiveness of the risk and control environment
  • Support the Head of Operational Risk and Fraud Investigation to improve the risk committee through enhanced risk reports and valuable management information for informed decision making
  • Embed a high performance culture by driving out inefficiencies, developing expertise and encouraging constructive feedback
  • Promote continuous learning and development through training, sharing, coaching and empowering team members
  • Use performance development tools to measure deliverables and motivate staff through reward and recognition

Technical & Behavioural Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills which include excellent communication skills, decision making, collaborative approach amongst others
  • Demonstrate independence and objectivity with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Ability to assess issues from different lenses and strike the right balance between cost and control
  • Technical skills and knowledge on enterprise risk management
  • Proactive and solution driven

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Relevant Professional Qualifications or Bachelor degree in Banking, Risk, Finance or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years Banking experience
  • Proven experience and application of risk management policies & frameworks
  • Risk Based auditing and/ or governance & control related activities
  • Familiar with Banking regulations, guidelines and international practices like Basel and Enterprise Risk Management
