Job Summary: Responsible for setting the strategic agenda for the SME Banking Department through balance sheet growth, customer acquisition, customer retention, and profit & loss targets in order to support the achievement of the overall business strategy in a cost effective and high return manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create plans for visiting customers
  • Contact new customers through cold calls, referrals etc.
  • Review budgets on a periodic basis and track performance against the budgets.
  • Effect SWOT analysis for each branch and apply corrective measures to realign focus on business objectives.
  • Act proactively to changes in customer needs and taste due to new technological or socio-economic environment.
  • Understand customer requirements/interests; research customer profile and background in order to propose a solution that meets customer needs.
  • Ensure that SME banking products are regularly enhanced to meet customers’ needs.
  • Visit customer business to monitor business performance; review business performance to take decision on facility renewal.
  • Liaison and build networks with local regulatory bodies and forums.

Technical Skills:

  • Good credit risk assessment skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the Central Bank’s guidelines and other relevant local legislation.
  • Ability to quickly pick up risk of Money Laundering.
  • Strong understanding of local market and retail banking products.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills both in English and French.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Banking/Finance/Accounting or any relevant field.
  • Minimum 8 years of working experience with at least 5 years of experience in SME Sector, 3 years of which must have been in a leadership position.
  • Must have hands on experience in Credit Analysis & Administration, Sales, Relationship Management, Customer Service, Commercial and Product Development functions of a commercial bank at managerial level.
  • An extensive knowledge of Small Medium Enterprise (SME) products, Retail Banking products and services, and throughout banking industry knowledge.
  • Excellent interpersonal, and negotiation skills with the ability to network, generate new business and develop strong business relations.
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated competences in championing high performance management.
