Redefining Private Banking from Mauritius

May 30, 2025

In an interview with Business Mag, Guillaume Passebecq, Head of Consumer, Private Banking & Wealth Management at Bank One, describes how the bank has strengthened its private-banking platform over the past few years.

The approach is built on four pillars. First, Bank One has expanded and up-skilled its wealth team to serve a client base that now spans local, expatriate and international investors. Second, a fully digital client journey is in place, featuring an enhanced mobile and internet platform, real-time portfolio monitoring through Bloomberg and POP, Mauritius’s first open-banking payment solution. Third, an open-architecture investment model allows the bank to work with both local and global asset managers, providing independent access to traditional and alternative opportunities. Finally, relationship managers follow a personalised, solution-driven style that emphasises responsiveness and cost transparency.

These efforts have been recognised with two industry awards for 2025: Best Private Bank – Mauritius (Global Finance) and Best Custodian Bank – Indian Ocean (CFI.co). Looking ahead, Passebecq notes rising interest from millennial entrepreneurs, impact-focused investors and family offices—segments that place a premium on digital convenience, sustainability and independent advice.
