Bank One and the Association Alzheimer and Dementia sign MoU to support families living with dementia

Bank One has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Association Alzheimer and Dementia (AAD) at its Head Office. The signing brought together the Bank’s Executive Committee, its Chief Executive Officer, and members of AAD led by President Dr. Ameenah Sorefan.

AAD, established in 2010, has played a leading role in addressing Alzheimer’s and dementia in Mauritius. Through its Day Care Centre in Belle Rose, training for caregivers, and public awareness campaigns, the organisation has supported patients and families while advocating for greater consideration of this growing public health challenge.

Through this partnership, Bank One pledges its support for initiatives that promote inclusion, dignity, and long-term social impact, while addressing a public health issue that remains largely underserved in Mauritius.

Bank One CEO, Sunil Ramgobin, said: “This partnership is a way for us to stand alongside those whose lives are directly impacted by dementia, and to support the people and organisations who dedicate themselves to their care. At Bank One, we believe prosperity also means well-being, and we are proud to work with AAD to create awareness and provide tangible support.”

Valerie Duval, Chair of the Sustainability Committee, stated: “Our aim is to channel resources towards causes that can potentially transform lives. By working with AAD, we are helping families who face the daily challenges of dementia, while reinforcing the values of care and respect that guide our sustainability agenda.”

Dr. Ameenah Sorefan, President of AAD, added: “Since 2010, AAD has been supporting families affected by Alzheimer’s and Dementia, yet the need continues to grow. Too often, these conditions are surrounded by silence and stigma, which prevents people from seeking help at the right time. This partnership with Bank One gives us the means to expand our programmes, strengthen our care services, and raise awareness on a wider scale.”

Through this agreement, both organizations reaffirm their responsibility towards the community, ensuring that families living with dementia are supported with care, dignity, and the attention they deserve.
