Job Summary: You will be responsible for providing physical security governance and subject matter expertise to the bank and to ensure the bank complies with all regulatory requirements. You will manage the guard force operations, security response, employee engagement initiatives and other corporate security programs within the bank premises.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and plan all security activities and resources, requiring industry standard knowledge of physical security protection.
  • Take security decisions such as: fire evacuations, security incidents or any threats to the bank.
  • Manage the physical security operations on all of Bank One’s premises.
  • Coordinate and manage responses to incidents as needed to address threats directed towards any staff, physical assets or operations.
  • Provide first-line supervision, mentoring, and leadership of team members.
  • Setting up security controls in line with the prevailing environment and formulate a security framework for the region with focus on value engineering and fit for purpose security solutions.
  • Keeping a close track on security threats and alerting the network as necessary.
  • Supervising security guards and conducting surprise checks as necessary.
  • Coordinate with cross functional business partners to proactively identify, mitigate and manage risks.
  • Manage key relationships with external vendors, other third parties, which may be involved in the management of bank security, including the BOM.
  • Ensure successful and timely management of any project where physical security should be involved.
  • Prepare and monitor department budget and expenditure of funds for staff hours, supplies, training, and equipment.
  • Develop and conduct Physical Security Awareness programmes for both staff and clients (internal and external).

Technical Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of CCTV, Access Control, Fire and Intruder alarm systems (Fundamental security knowledge).
  • Excellent knowledge of the security & fraud industry and effective crime risk management processes gained through personal development, vocational and academic qualifications.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills both in English and French.

  • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to respond quickly to security, safety, and sensitive situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake complex investigations, including those into sensitive and criminal matters, and produce clear and impartial reports on the findings.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A relevant tertiary or professional qualification in law enforcement, security, business safety or related field
  • At least 7 years of experience in physical security, risk management, loss prevention, emergency preparedness and law enforcement.
  • Significant experience in a protective security role, ideally gained in the police.
  • Experience in leading teams in corporate security or emergency management.
  • Experience in conducting physical threat and risk assessments.
  • Hands on experience in coordinating and running training events in a corporate setting.
  • Working knowledge of access control security systems and technology.
