Vacancy:Junior Credit Business Analyst

Job Purpose:

The main purpose of this position is to prepare comprehensive credit proposals based on the Deal Memo and other info received from Front Office and based on independent researches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare credit proposals based on info received from Front Office by completing a comprehensive Analysis of the business, past track record, management assessment, financial performance and forecast analysis, repayment capacity | need basis | collateral assessment, industry and country assessment and other credit risks involved.
  • Ensure credit proposals:
    • are unambiguous, error-free, complete and contains an in-depth analysis
    • depict all credit risks involved and give possible mitigants for these risks
    • are in alignment with the Bank’s Credit Policy, Central Bank's guidelines and other legislations (any breach to be clearly highlighted)
    • clearly specify Front Office recommendations and views as well as Credit Analysis independent and prudent recommendations
    • o are completed and submitted to Seniors for review
  • Ensure renewals submitted to Credit Analysis are completed on time
  • Ensure financials of Institutional IBD clients are properly input on Moody's Analyst and Qualitative inputs are completed.
  • Perform site visits for large and potentially risky SME deals.
  • Complete proposal within agreed SLA/KPI.
  • that turnaround time of credit proposals are within the agreed Service Level Agreement with respective Business Lines.
  • Continuously strive to improve the quality of service provided by Credit Analysis Unit through Innovation and personal initiatives.
  • Provide advice and support to Front Office with regards to credit requests.
  • Maintain mutually beneficial relationships with Front Office and other Support Teams
  • Keep up-to-date with changes within banking regulations and best practices.

Technical & Behavioural Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Central Bank’s guidelines and other relevant local and international legislations.
  • Sound Knowledge and understanding of banking products and lending processes.
  • Strong analytical skills and Risk Management techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of Corporate Finance, Structured Trade Finance, Project Finance, Syndication, Cross Border deals.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, specially in Africa.
  • Highly numerate
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook)
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Computer literal with good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Good interpersonal and communication (oral/written) both in French and English medium.
  • Have good time management skills.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • ACCA qualified or a Degree in Banking/Finance/Economics/Accounting or an alternate qualification acceptable to the Bank.
  • Work experience in the financial sector, preferable in a bank will be an advantage.
