Job Summary: Manage efficiently and proactively the business unit in ensuring that the bank’s activities are carried out in compliance with all relevant laws, rules, regulations and codes in accordance with the bank’s policies and procedures.
Responsible for developing and implementing the strategic objectives of the business unit and manage its available resources (staff, systems, processes).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coordinating the management of the bank’s compliance risk.
  • Establish the necessary processes to ensure that the bank is at all times compliant with all regulations, industry codes and standards of best practices, taking a proactive and balanced approach to those regulations.
  • Assess new regulatory developments and ensure that they are implemented at the Bank in a timely manner.
  • In conjunction with the MLRO, ensure that the bank has established adequate AML controls and procedures which include, inter alia, programmes for risk assessment, transaction monitoring and staff training.
  • Ensure that regular verification of compliance with policies, procedures and controls relating to money laundering and the financing of terrorism activities, is performed by the Compliance function.
  • Oversee investigation into breach by staff and ensure that relative report setting out the findings and recommendations is submitted to management on a timely basis.
  • Provide guidance to business on KYC requirements.
  • Ensure business unit employees’ adherence to the bank’s policies and procedures.
  • Sign off AOFs and follow up on KYC issues.
  • Responsible for ensuring that staff members are trained on compliance, AML issues and other related matters.

Technical Skills:

  • Sound knowledge of the Central Bank’s guidelines and other relevant local legislation.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Holder of an MBA
  • Minimum 15 years’ working experience in the banking or financial sector
